Historically, the area receives an impressive average of around 750 cm (about 295 inches) of snow annually, making it one of the snowiest resorts in North America. The combination of its elevation, geographic location, and climate contributes to this heavy snowfall.

Big White’s snow is particularly famous for being light and dry, often referred to as “champagne powder,” which attracts skiers and snowboarders from around the world. The resort typically opens in late November and operates well into April, with peak snowfall occurring between December and February.
