There are many great areas of Big White, all boasting their own great features, so it really depends on your group composition as to where is best to stay. Here is a breakdown of the different areas:
Feathertop Estates is the premium location on the mountain, with chalets that are built to impress. This area is away from the bustle of the Village Center and Happy Valley, but has unbeatable ski-in/ski-out access that provides direct access to Black Forest or the Bullet chairlifts, ski access directly to Happy Valley, and is within easy walking distance of the Village center. Browse our selection of chalets in Feathertop Estates here.
This is a great area to stay as it provides direct, easy access to all the main restaurants and bars on the mountain, the shops, and the tickets/rental facilities in the Village Center Mall. The Village Centre also has great ski-in/ski-out access. Most of the family-friendly activities are located down in Happy Valley, which can be accessed from the Village via the Gondola, or via a short walk on Happy Valley Way. Take a look at our Village Center rental homes here!
The Aspens is a great place to stay if ski-in/ski-out is your priority, as the condo buildings back directly onto the Highway 33 ski run, and the townhomes are a 30 second walk away from the run. Ski-out provides easy access to the Village center (and in turn Ridge Rocket, Snowghost and Plaza chairlifts) as well as the Bullet Express, Black Forest & Telus Park chairlifts. Have a look at our properties in the upper village here!
This area also boasts incredible ski-in/ski-out access, and is conveniently only a short stroll from the Village center, meaning accessing anywhere on the mountain is extremely convenient. Have a look at our homes in the lower village here.
White Forest provides the perfect middle ground between staying in the village, which is the hub of the restaurants, bars and shops, and staying in Happy Valley, the hub of activities outside of skiing. Just a short walk from both, White Forest provides a tranquil area that is still not far from all the action, and has great ski-in/ski-out. Have a look at our homes in White Forest here.
Happy Valley is the hub of activities on the mountain, with a whole host of exciting things to do outside of skiing. Here you can choose from ice-skating, tubing, dog sledding, horse sleigh rides, dinner and event in Happy Valley Day Lodge, and more. Happy Valley is home to lots of condos of varying sizes, and utilising multiple condos in one building is a great way to keep a large party staying next to each other! Take a look at our homes in Happy Valley here.
Snow Pines Estates is a great area to stay in if you want a more relaxed and quiet area to stay away from the busy Village center. The village is still easily accessible via the free shuttle bus or by walking the Snow Pines trail, meaning you’re never far from the action, and has ski-out access to the Ridge Rocket/Snowghost and Plaza chairlifts. Have a look at our Snow Pines Estates homes here.
Big White is home to a whole host of activities outside of skiing and snowboarding! For starters, Happy Valley hosts lots of activities; take your family ice skating and hit some hockey pucks around on Big White’s outdoor ice-skating rink (Canada’s highest outdoor rink!); get your speed fix by hitting the tube park, and hurtling down the slope on an inflatable tube; enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime experience of dog sledding through the forest; take a nighttime sleigh ride in the snow covered winter wonderland; go for a tour around the mountain on the back of a snowmobile.
There are other (less adrenaline fuelled) activities hosted all over the mountain as well – Happy Valley is home to a weekly firework show on Saturday nights; there is a weekly trivia night in the Happy Valley Day Lodge; there are lots of live music events all over the mountain on several nights of the week; The Globe hosts lots of events throughout the season from comedy nights to trivia nights.
